You will visit 2 working mills; Dalgarven Mill built in 1614 which houses an amazing collection of period costumes. You will travel onto Newmilns and have lunch in the luxury surroundings of Lamlash House. Annie Currie, the house maid from 1901, will serve you lunch and describe events in Lamlash House in that year. After lunch you will take a very short trip to the Morton, Young & Borland Lace Factory. The factory produces lace from looms and bobbins of over 100 years old. Its is renowned for lace produce for period dramas, such as lace net curtains featured in Call the Midwife and more recently Outlander. The producers of lace panels for Timorous Beasties and damask lace for global export, the factory is a facinating insight to the age old process of lace production and links can be made between all venues visited.
