The Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre is a new resource based at the University of Huddersfield. Created by the Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association, it comprises an exhibition, learning space and flexible events space and seeks to improve visitors’ knowledge and understanding about the Holocaust in order to create a better world. The Centre is the only one of its kind in the north of England.
The exhibition, ‘Through Our Eyes’ follows the stories of 16 children and young people who survived Nazi persecution across Europe in the 1930s and 1940s. They came to the north of England as refugees or survivors of the Holocaust, settled and made new lives here. The Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It was established in 1996 to provide friendship and support to Holocaust survivors and their families and still fulfils this function alongside its educational work.
