Kilbarchan is an ancient village or Hamlet in Renfrewshire. Taking its name from a wandering preacher who arrived in the area in the 6th Century (Barchan) the village grew to become one of the main weaving centres of the County with the last loom going out of use in the 1950s. This Heritage walk will explore the village starting with the West Kirk on Church Street, looing the the archaeology and upstandingthe remains of of former churches. The walk will conlcude outside the Weavers Cottage where you may wish to go inside and explore the National Trust Property to experience the life of a Kilbarchan Weaver (You will need to pay sepertaly for this unless your are a memebr of the National Trust for Scotland).

We will meet at 1pm outside the Weavers Cottage on Church Street/ The Cross, Kilbarchan. The Walk will finish at 3pm in the same location. Please note that the place marker on the map below is not in the correct position! (we can't do much about it).
